If you've been following my post on Crackle and Tweet Tweet babies, you'll know I have 5 identical opaline babies... I don't plan on keeping them all, but I'd like to be able to tell them apart. I have green and red split rings, but am having trouble getting any more around here. As I already have two colours, I only need two more as one could be 'un ringed'... Can anyone help. Last time I looked they didn't have any at our local supply place, and I can only get them in packs of 10 and all in one colour. If any one can assist, I'd be happy to pay for them and postage. I’ve found them almost useless, I ran out of sealed rings last year & put them on two batches of chicks just leaving the nest, so I could tell them apart later. All but one or two chewed them off. I just missed ringing a chick in the last couple of days & have tried one on it in the nest, while it’s to young to chew it off, don’t know if it will work. If a birds not used to it they are not strong enough to stand being chewed which is what a bird that isn’t used to it will do.

Norm, I have used split rings in my last two clutches and havn't had any probems with them. I'll try them and see how they go. Thanks all!

I have never had a problem with plastic split rings on any of my budgies but the parrots chew them off :budgiedance:

I put split rings on my split/rec & have not had a problem & some have been on for 2years.
