Posted July 5, 200816 yr I know that the Hills Auction was on today. Did anyone go? And if you did, did you buy anything? What were the prices like?
July 5, 200816 yr I didn't make it My daughter isn't well so stayed home with my little chicky! The catalog can be downloaded here:- http://www.budgerigar.com.au/hills/index.htm Has some pics of some of the budgies up for grabs. I think lonebudgie went !? We will have to wait for his report Edited July 5, 200816 yr by throwback
July 6, 200816 yr The Report :bluebudgie: This is always the spectical you shouldnt miss , that is if you live in the sydney area. So 241 Lots after the scratchings , Total takings $ 102,370.00 thats an average of $424.78 per bird . My opinion , Quality was down on previous years , but amongst them some top birds , I think the money was also down . Unfortunately didnt get to buy any as the birds I picked out went over my $1000 limit which didnt really worry me as its good to see if you have your eye in when looking at the birds , must have expensive taste . The usual breeders names fetched the dollars whether they were good birds or not , there was special interest in Bob Smiths birds which I liked Lot 133 a standout bird and went for $2100 also Lot 68 a Gearing bird $1300 The top sale Lot 221 a Smith bird went for $2600 It goes to show if you win a National you can get the bucks. If anyone wants a price on a particular bird , PM me .
July 6, 200816 yr Thanks LB for the report! Lot 133, Looks like a nice hen! $2100 So the half brother lot 134 the spangle cock.
