Air Bubble In Crop?

Featured Replies

Posted

I've just noticed that one of my chicks has an air bubble in his crop. He is a few days old and still receiving crop milk (I think from the look of it). Is this okay, will it work itself out, or should I do something? I've never seen anything like this before.

Someone a while ago was talking about how they gently squeeze the air out but ony a few days after that post I had one with air and tried but couldn't get it out so I left it and the chick was fine, the air bubble dispersed on it's own.

okay, I will monitor and see how it develops.

I think the main thing is to make sure that the chick is still getting enough food into it's crop. If their is food in the crop as well monitor it, if the chick doesn't seem to be able to fill it's crop because the air bubble is too large then you might need to try and get some of the air out.

That was ME :P

You need to make sure that the Neck and head are in a line and it will ease the air bubble out ....

if they are little ones ( usually seen in 1 week olds at the front of the crop and older ones at the sides of the crop) these I leave if they are MASSIVE and squeeze:D
