Hey everyone! I'm a new member and thought i would post pics of my budgies, and was hoping somebody would be able to tell me the gender and type of budgie and approximate age. I just purchased an aviary which included 4 budgies, so i don't really know anything about my new ones. I already have 2 budgies a male and a female which i have had for about a year. At The Moment the new birds are in the one cage and my 2 are in another cage..for the quarantine thing i have read about.. is it 6 months until i am able to put my old birds in the aviary?

I get the aviary tomorrow so the 4 new birds will be going in there. I also want to get a couple of quails, am thinking king quails... do they need to be quarantined as well?

Any other help/ advice would be great! Thanks

These are my 2 budgies

The blue male is called Bird and the green female is called Nim. If these aren't the correct gender please tell me because that is what i was told they are when i got them!

Budgie 3.. I think there is something wrong with this budgies leg. it is missing a nail off each foot and notice how it sits in the picture, different to the other budgies. The lady who i got them from mentioned something about it bad leg, or something along those lines but now i can't remember what she said.

changed ATM to At The Moment. please do not use shortcuts - use only approved shortcuts found in the guidelines

beautiful budgies, the two budgies, bird is a boy and nim is a girl so they were correct...

WELCOME TO BBC!

EDIT: Woops it seems you already observed the two toenails. hehe\

i am going to guess the mutations of Nim and bird. Nim looks like an olive opaline and bird looks like a sky blue opaline???

dont worry if im wrong as i am guessing and i have never guessed mutations before :D

Welcome Bec :D Happy to have you here.

Your budgies look very nice. Andrew has confirmed your two original budgies sexes, so you were right about that too :D

They are a grey green normal hen and a skyblue normal male.

Budgie one is a Double Factor grey dominant pied

Budgie two is a grey green spangle hen

Budgie three ( a hen ) may have had splayed legs in the nest that were never corrected or treated as well as the missing toenails. possibly recessive pied.

Budgie four I would say is a Yellowface type 2 skyblue greywing dominant pied hen

Quarantine is 30 days minimum at least 5 metres from existing birds, until introduction if all is well.

Quails...quarantine also unless they come from the same place.

Cheers kaz :D

Beautiful Birds

No 3 first look SPLAYED legs mate, missing a toenail doesn't make a differnce in their stance ....

I Should have read Kaz's post before typing mine lol , On a good note Whoo Hooo I am right :D

Welcome to the forum :D, I agree with Kaz with the quarantine be strict about it becaue it is important to the well being of all your birds.

Hi and welcome :)

Bird and nim are a grey green normal and a sky blue normal

Bird 1 is a grey Df dominant pied

Bird 2 grey green spangle

bird 3 i think is a sky spangle recessive pied

bird 4 greywing light green dominant pied

My outlook on their mutations :P

Agree with all other advice given about Quarantine and splay legs :P
