After all the hassles i have had with my breeding pair, the 4 little ones are still alive.Just had to show some pics of my little survivors. The 3 in the nestbox are finally getting some feathers and i think i have one blue spangle and 2 white df spangles.Rocky my little sick one is improving but still has a long battle ahead of him but i am hoping with lots of love and care he will make it.I think he was injured when the pair where fighting in the nestbox.

Awwww......so good to see they are doing well. Yay for Rocky, I hope he keeps battling on :)

They look lovely :)

I hope little Rocky makes it - he looks like he will be very pretty too :D

Deb, well done for doing your best with the clutch mate :D

I must agree with Kaz that rocky looks like a Roxy with the raise cere :D

They are BEAUTIFUL :) good on ya !!!!!!

Can you get a photo of rocky with his head up?

In the picture of him alone he looks like he has a swollen neck? with either food in it or sometimes they can get other objects stuck in it.

I had a pair who fed their baby strings of grass which blocked up the babies crop pipe and we had to remove it to save him.

i took some more pics of rocky but the problem is he cannot hold his own head up and has very limit movement. When i looked at his crop pipe compared to the other babies his protrudes more and is crooked.what could cause that? he has no problems with feeding but cannot walk at all.

Deb, I had a chick like that. The parents broke its neck in the early stages of feeding it. I still have the chick.....sits with its head sideways and cannot balance well...cannot fly well as it doesnt get to where its aiming for. Spends its life in the kindie cage with each successive group of babies. Fully feathered and happy but no good for the aviary. I should euthenase it but havent been able to.

Your Rocky appears to be a ROXANNE.

Ladys & Gentlemen. Why would you keep alive a budgie that has no control of its head.

There is no law to say you can not put it to sleep. The budgie police are not going

to come & arreast you.

Roxanne not Rocky as i have been informed has won my heart and as long as she fights to survive i will help her as much as i can, it sounds like Roxanne has a similar problem to Kaz's chick, she cannot balance well but if she survives she will spend her life living in the house with me getting lots of love and special attention.

If the truth be known Deb...there are many tough show breeders out there who have disabled budgies in their aviaries and homes that they cannot euthenase either ....I have seen them

Does his neck bone jutt out to one side in his neck? To one side, not the normal buldge at the front.

Bob and i thought ours also had a broken neck until we found the grass in it's neck, we had to forcefully remove it with crop flushing and forced vomiting, to get it all out it took 3-4 days but it's right as rain now...

Are you positive that your chick has a broken neck? As it looks mighty similar to what mine did

Apart from the sick one Deb they seem to be going well. Good luck with them.

They look wonderful Deb, you should enter one of your favorite pics in the budgie contest for the month :( and Roxanne is a cutie.

All bird beaks dont look "attached" under their beaks if you look close enough :(

Very true Sunnie.....Andrew just hasnt noticed this before :D

Oh Mate, this sounds like a tough clutch - Roxanne has won everyones heart i think lol,

Have you thought about taking her to the vet to have a look over?????

Your doing a great job Deb , no matter what happens I can see your going to keep them happy anyway.

How cute Deb and I'm glad they are doing well. As to Roxanne, I hope she contines to improve and makes it through. I'm sure she'd make a great inside budgie. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for more updates. :D

I have good news and sad news, I have been away this weekend so my hubby has been looking after my birds.Roxanne is getting better and her balance is slowly improving. I do not think she has anything stuck in her neck because she has no problems with feeding and the hen has only been feeding them the egg and biscuit mix and millet seeds. The sad news is my hubby has been feeding the hen in the breeding cabinet but did not check the babies while i was away so i found the youngest baby squash under the older 2 who are twice the size of the younger one and they were peeking him.He was very week but still alive and has splayed legs so i have brought him inside and feed him and put a makeup sponge on his legs. Hopefully this one will pull through just like Roxanne has. This is a picture of Roxanne holding herself up now,Yeah.
