Winds In Melboure

okay so the winds started here, talking to MB trying not to worry. Checked on my guys a few times they seemed okay. Then went out and almost got stabbed my a flying stake! :D

So I called to my sister and we braved the winds armed with a net and a pillow case and got the guys out of the aviary and into the patio cage, I had to make a choice break quarantine with some birds I am 99% sure are healthy or risk the guys in the aviary cause I am out of room and cages so I decided to break quarantine (Kaz you can beat me up later  )

So I now have one VERY full cage in the kitchen and the noise level is through the roof! This has stirred up the guys in the study that can hear them and Sky in her isolation.

I went back out to tie the aviary down and every time a gust came the whole thing shook, so going to have to find a better way to affix it to the ground until the slab goes in.

Just thought you might like some pictures

This did help me solve one question, I decided that no matter what if I can I will keep the patio cage cause it is good for situations like this.

Yeah... ours down here are crazy to. I went out earlier and did my best to prepare. The aviary and breeding crew will be fine, and most of our outdoor furnature shouldn't go anywhere. I guess I'll see in the morning! Your birds do look cosy, but atleast they'll be safe. Good luck!

Half my quarantine birds and half my avairy birds all use to be in your avairy

My sister just did a head count at 13 and is all annoyed at me.... I am trying to work out what part of "breeding budgies" she is not getting :D

Update - My Avairy just tried to Fly to OZ! :D We tied it down all four sides now thankfully i got the birds out when I did!

Oh wow....are you having a storm or more of a storn...what is the weather predication?

Wow, I'm glad I changed my mind about whether you should take them out now!!! I would have felt awful if they had still been in there because of what I originally said :D

My aviary is tied down so fingers crossed everything will be fine. I have nowhere to put the birds from the aviary so they will just have to tough it out unfortunately.

It got really bad here really quick, it's rummbling through I think to add to my issues is that the corner that the Avairy is in is like a dead end so the wind comes down around my house and striaght down to the end with the avairy and around it as it goes up if that makes sense so it tries to take it with it!

so is this a typical storm or what :D...I asked above and didn't get an answer

gotcha...being around the world I was wondering

It was pretty bad, alot of people said how they lost birds from avairys tipping over which is why i was worried I think MB lost some in the last storm. They where downplaying it on the radio today but the news tonight started saying that it was going to be as bad as last time, and last time my outside table ended up in the neighbours back yard.

What a rough night you had  Well dome for acting quickly and getting everyone out of the aviary :D

I once had a sheet of tin fly at me from over the fence :hap:

How is everything today?? have the winds eased. We had some wind here last night too, but my aviary is attached to our pergola and not going anywhere!

Went out to the Aviary at 6am before I went to work and it was still really windy, all the straw from the ground is all through the wire and stuck to the roof, perches are down and it's a mess to the guys are staying in the Kitchen today as well. They woke us up today when the fish light came on singing away and fighting over the top perches :hap:

Our outdoor setting moved a bit and I thinkwe lost a tarp but other then that we came through fine.

The house at the front not so happy as the dead tree came down and broke one of their windows. Fun night had by all!
