Posted June 20, 200817 yr Pics of my little mate! Not so little anymore, he's almost 15 and half a head shorter than me and I'm 6'2! Never disturb him while he's reading Budgerigar World! Unless your taking his picture!! Chalk and cheese!! Hay!
June 20, 200817 yr Is he still interested in Budgies or was it just a passing interest. He loves them Norm! He was to young to remember when I had them in the 90's. Now I got back into them he is very keen. It's good for him as well to get him off those PS and X box games. We went to St George club sale night last night. Heaps of budgies there. As it was not a auction just walk up and buy, first in. He had his own money and was buying birds. When we sorted them out this morning and put them in isolation. I was surprised at what he had chosen, better and younger budgies then I had! 07 birds when mine are 06 and some 05. He is a lot more competitive then I am. ( must come from playing those games ) he keeps asking when we are going to start showing. So I hope he stays keen. The only drawback is when those other birds come along. Then I might be on my own again for a while. Edited June 20, 200817 yr by throwback
June 20, 200817 yr That’s good to hear, lets hope he continues on being interested, not enough young blood around of late, they must be hooked on those PC’s like you say. Best instil in him that it’s more important to see how well he can go with improving his own birds as a personal satisfaction, rather than get too competitive, as then if they don’t win first off they can loose interest…yes those other birds can be a distraction at least for awhile…LOL…
June 21, 200817 yr "Those other birds" ... as a member of that beautiful, talented and lovely club, I'd agree and say watch out for them!!!!! He was a handsome young boy... and kids just sweet. I bet you're a very proud Dad now, especially with him following in your interest.
June 21, 200817 yr One of the cock birds he bought last night. Green ringer, hasn't got a bad eye, must remember something from those Budgerigar World mags!

June 21, 200817 yr I agree. what a cutie It's so nice how children follow their parents interests - I would like to think my two will be interested in budgies too when they grow up

June 21, 200817 yr what a cutie and he has grown up to be a very handsome young man, as for mom and dad well.....
June 21, 200817 yr Well... perhaps he's the post mans kid? He sure doesn't look like either of his biological parents He's cute, going to have to watch out for him, hit upper school in high school and the girls will be after him like african animals to a water hole!
June 21, 200817 yr Well that shows you it all ain't about genetics, there's always the chance of getting something good out of rough stock… Libby do you have to be so crude? When I was 15 I "must" have looked as cute & I can’t remember being attacked by the wild animals of which you speak…sadly. Edited June 21, 200817 yr by Norm
