Posted June 16, 200817 yr Hi again My budgie's George and Lumina do this thing where George runs up and down the perch to her and they hit beaks what are they doing? And second do Budgie's mate in nest box cuz because the other day I think they did, my friend said that it's probly equivalent to doing it in a bedroom. Moderator’s Message changed cuz to because. please do not use shortcuts - use only approved shortcuts found in guidelines. Edited June 16, 200817 yr by birdluv
June 16, 200817 yr Hi Jodie, George and Lumina are just flirting - Is George singing and bobing his head as well?? these are all pre-mating behaviors. My understanding is that budgies only mate on a perch, and not in a nest box (or other flat surface)

June 16, 200817 yr Author He is flirting and bonding with Lumina - a great sign for future eggs oh wow that was quick and he does this most the day and then feeds her and i think she gets a bit ticked off by it not sure he also does this thing where he looks like he kicks her but she pushes him away, I think hes in condition and she's going in. Edited June 16, 200817 yr by Jodie
June 16, 200817 yr The "kicking" is him trying to mount her to mate. Her moving away is quite normal, but when she is ready she will squat down on the perch and raise her tail, then he will climb on her back and they will mate

June 16, 200817 yr She will If she really REALLY didn't want him, she would get VERY aggressive, or completely ignore him. It sounds like things are going just fine with your two though  Do you have a photo??

June 16, 200817 yr about two years and the male is about 5 years and just so you know there Bailey and George's mama und papa There are so many things it could be. Diet, cage size, bird condition, health issues, hormonal issues , behavorual issues I would say your friend needs to remove the nest box for a month, and try them again after a break - hopefully it will break the cycle. Oh, and while they are having a break, ensure they are getting lots of fresh food and vegies to get them in peek condition before breeding again. Edited June 17, 200817 yr by KAZ
June 16, 200817 yr Author she dont feed them veggies thats why i am finding it so hard to get George and Bailey to eat them Lumina does and Sky i still wont try yet Edited June 17, 200817 yr by KAZ
June 16, 200817 yr she dont feed them veggies thats why i am finding it so hard to get George and Bailey to eat them Lumina does and Sky i still wont try yet They all need more than just seed to breed properly. your friends birds probably have a vitamin deficiancy and would cause the egg tossing behaviour - are they eating the eggs too??? Keep trying with vegies everyday, try different ways of presenting it. mine like their vegies whole and uncooked - Some breeders grate/dice their vegies. You can also soak soup mix over night..... mmmmmm mine go nuts for soaked soup mix. Just keep on trying and one day they WILL eat their vegies  Edited June 16, 200817 yr by **Liv**

She needs to stop her birds from breeding immediately as its just creating stress and compounding the vitamin deficiency further. At this point I feel they need a boost of vitamins on top of a good diet of fresh foods. Your friend needs to give a water soluble vitamin supplement (according to the directions on the bottle) and fresh foods (if the supplement allows it) Edited June 17, 200817 yr by KAZ
