Posted June 10, 200817 yr One of my new hens has laid 2 eggs so far but the eggs are a bit different to the usual shape. They both come to a rather noticable point at one end! I have never seen this before in budgies, I am hoping they will still be okay and will hatch into normal chicks?? Will try and get a photo tomorrow to show you.
June 10, 200817 yr I get some that are pointier than others, never caused a problem but it probably depends how pointy they are

I have found that the size or shape of the eggs is particular to each hen. Unless of course the shell is soft or really badly deformed you shouldn't have a problem. The best thing you can do for your breeding pairs is to give them Calcivet and that usually fixes any calcium defficiencies that may arise.
June 10, 200817 yr I too had a hen that eggs where a little mis shaped, even with all the extra calcium, they weren't soft, and the eggs hatched Only ever been 3 in the time i've been breeding though ......
