September 6, 200816 yr Wow libby, you've done a great job. If you showed other people the before and after they would think that your full of it. The cock is absolutely gorgeous! Pet shops are so silly and some backyard breeders, they have no idea. You are gods gift to birds and you are a absolute angel. regards Joel :hap: Joel. Please use punctuation in your posts. It makes them very hard to read when there are NO full stops etc... Edited September 6, 200816 yr by maesie

September 6, 200816 yr Wonderful job Libby...they don't look like the same birds...they must have been going through ***.
October 3, 200816 yr Well done, you're an amazing person to be able to do what you've done. All I can say is "Hats off to you, Libby." Now if all pet owners were as great as that there would be no need for any organisations like the RSPCA. And you have earned for your goodness 2 lovely birds to love. Best of luck with them.
October 3, 200816 yr I missed these updates! He looks absolutely gorgeous, so happy and vibrant - he looks like a new bird! Still waiting on the hen updates :happy-dancing: As everyone has already said, good for you for helping these unfortunates. They are blessed to have "found you"
January 20, 200916 yr i have only just seen this thred lib you have done a great job that cock is so beautiful it just shows you what a diffrence just having a careing owner can make to any bird but you have put in lots of time and effort their well done ps off topic (thanks for help with the young cocky its kicking goals)
November 18, 200915 yr Well a friend of mine works at a local pet shop here in Perth (if you'd like to know the name of it PM me)She informed me they had some birds that really ought not be there, let alone up for sale. So I told her to give them an ultimatum or else i'd make a complaint. They handed the birds over to her willingly, then she in turn handed them over to me for treatment. I expected them to be bad, as she said they had scaley face, but not this bad! There's one hen (sky violet opaline spangle) and one cock (mauve violet opaline spangle). The cock is in very poor condition, he's light as a feather and his beak is soooo bad! The hen has a badly deformed beak, very badly affected feet and nails, but over all seems to be in a much better condition than the cock. Here are some pics of them, as the treatment goes on i'll show you their progress. Presuming they make it that far(fingers crossed) - cock left side - cock right side - cock feet - cock feet again - hen left side - hen right side - hen left foot - hen right foot - both feet - After their first treatment and feed. They got wormed, given sulphadim and a soft food mix. looking a bit better already, but still horribly sick how can people do that thats sad whats the point having a bird and there not gonna look after it and then then just take it to the pet shop and leave like nuthing wrong with it
December 5, 200915 yr That makes me furious!! those poor birds Well done Libby for giving these guys a second chance :angel1: I might also add, it's not nesasarly the pet shop that is at fault here. It is actually the person who sold the birds to the shop who did this to them - it must be months, perhaps years of neglect I'm almost crying with disgust, Boofer (deceased) had bad scaly mite when I brought her but it wasn't that bad. I was treating her when she died along with her mate. A pet shop near me had a lot of baby budgies with really bad scaly mite and a man who knew nothing about budgies wanted to buy one for his little girl. The one he chose had a severe beak deformity and was opening and shutting it's beak repeatedly. I pointed out the problem and the shop keeper wasn't happy. The man chose an adult female budgie next and wanted to know if it would talk. The shop keeper said it would but it was a pretty old bird. I started to say it probably wouldn't talk but he wouldn't listen to a little girl when an experianced shop keeper was there. I hate being treated like I know nothing!
May 1, 201015 yr Those poor birds. Such a sad story but with a happy ending thanks to you. Those beautiful birds look so happy and healthy now. You are my hero.
