Stupid me brought a budgie from the petshop a few weeks ago and when i got him home and put him in the quarentine cage i thought wow they really did a hack job clipping his wings anyway he finished quarantine and i put him in the aviary after a few weeks and realising his wings are not growing back i have come to the conclusion that he has french moult i did not know that you could get it in a mild form and have short feathers! So know he has been in the aviary with my other birds for around 3 weeks so if its contagious im guessing my guys have already caught it?? Does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do?

I think french moult is not a huge problem as adults, pm Kaz as I believe she has a couple of FM budgies in her aviary with no problems.

MEL, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME !!!!

French molt is fine don't breed with it and best to keep as in door bird, or make sure the avairy is set up for a a "special needs" lower perches some ladders and water and see dishes kept where it can get to easily ..

Is there a criteria that I didn't see which says BBC members have to be total dags :):)

?????????????????

Hey!!! where did that come from???? Why are we dags???? did i say something stupid??? (well we are blondes????)

. Basically it will be a tamed bird as it can't fly... But shouldn't be housed with birds that will breed or that you want to breed, some members have bred with FM budgies and their off springs were fine ... It's one of thoses "what ever you want to do " things .....

There is nothing wrong with breeding with a french moult.

Again more miss conceptions?

I agree TB ......

Some ( like me ) can confuse the FM with PBFD ..... which again is another can of worms lol

It wont risk the health of your other birds. You can use it for breeding as well. The only issue it will have sometimes is it needs ladders in the aviary. :)
