I have these 2 babies and simply love the color, want to make certain I am correct on thinking this is visual violet?? :budgiedance: The color variations are somewhat confusing at times. Also would like an opinion on the headsize of the last chick from the experts please. I apologize for the blur will try to get better pics this evening at feeding time and will post them if needed.

It certainly looks like Violet to me Sueanneleach & their head look quite good, but when the feathers have grown out a bit more it may be easier to see. Nice chicks.

Definitely violets....always a pretty sight in a nestbox :budgiedance:

Thankyou missylu for the compliments, really nice seeing this is my first breeding season! And yes Kaz the violet is quite a striking color to see in the nest box. I believe the violet and the REL are my favorites, of course I like the spangle greys too...LOL who am i kidding I love them all! Missylu this is a picture of the parents.

WOW! again they are beautiful! Its probably not a good photo as they both look blue but i am guessing that the male is also a violet. Well fingers crossed because i have a double factor violet with a sky blue carrying violet they are ready to lay so hopefully i get atleast 1 violet. Congratulations again i would be so proud of those beautiful babies. How far away from me are you again??? damn it sorry cant come that far.. lol

Your male is definitely violet and the hen carries violet also as seen by the purple flash of colour under her mask off to the side of her cheeks

If you have a bird and you suspect violet but cannot see it clearly , then you can look under the ends of the filghts where they cover the side of the rump area , it is here you will find the violet colouration on the side of the rump irespective of the colour of the bird.
