Anyone Know If You Can Take Birds On The Train?

Just wondering if anyone knows if you're allowed to take birds on the train?

I took mine on the train from melbourne to Kyneton. I had a custom cover that I made for the travel cage so no one could see in and Harley was really quiet so no one questioned it but that was a few years ago.
