Just 5 minutes ago i went outside to cover up the three baby budgies i have been raising and, the quietest loveliest one (peppy) was dead on the bottom of the cage. Latly iv noticed hes had abit of a build up of budge poop under his tail, and has been alittle depressed looking. Ive had this happed to other birds before too, and the have always resulted in death.

but what is it? how is it caused? can i prevent it?

I noticed as soon as they get the poop build up, they get quiet, and not long after die.

If anyone knows anything about this, please help me!

The poop build up is one indicator of a sick budgie and it shold be seen to by a vet. If treated then there is a good chance of the bird surviving. Most likely she needed a course of antibiotics. The best thing to do in this sitation is to bring the bird inside and put it in a warm place, if possible with a 20watt lamp over one corner of the cage for extra warmth.
