Baby Lacewing

Featured Replies

Hi all just wanted to post some recent pics of my baby Lacewing. I am so proud of him/her? Remember this is the only one I got from my Lacewing X Lutino pair. Although I am wondering if the hen I thought was lutino might be a Yellow Lacewing? I know you all can help me on that. First is the baby I adore and the his Mom. Let me know what you think. Thanks SueAnn

It would be also good to know what the dad is, it looks like an INO Lacewing possibly, I see light markings on the second picture, yellow = green series bird which is yellow, white (which is what your bird is) blue series bird = white

I assume the male was a blue series bird and was split or is a cinnamon?

No Dad is a REL...the chick looks just like Dad. Mom is I think a Lutino or a Lacewing herself.

if mum was a lace wing all chick would be lace wings too ...... if i have it correct

Elly- I thought Lacewings were Ino? :( (red eye)

Mum just looks like a lutino to me, looks a nice size though

Cant see markings on the baby, looks like an albino on my screen.

Lacewing can be either series a Lacewing is a Lutino Cinnamon or an Albino Cinnamon Gene together.

Ino are blue series birds with the blue erased and there is no cinnamon gene involved

Lutino's are green series birds with the green erased and there is no cinnamon gene involved

The female must be split for the blue gene that is the only way you would get an INO (blue series baby) because both parents have to carry the blue gene. As for the cinnamon if they are both lacewings you would have 100% lacewing but what series green or blue would be determined if the birds are BOTH carrying the blue series gene.

Thanks for that resize, they are very pale but I can just see the lace markings. Was that photo taken with a flash as that might be the problem

Was having a laugh Elly- but Ino covers both yellow and white birds.

Susann - Love the parents of the chick.

I agree with pie, the parents are beautiful and I can see the markings on your chick :)

Gorgeous, I am very envious :)
