are you promoting a breeder? or a pet shop? Cheap birds are nice but not always in the best of health, can you tell us more please. Thank you.

As Elly states, price isnt everything. Health and good living conditions are more important, especially when choosing where to buy your birds.

Hi,

Don't worry, I checked that first! They are all healthy, happy birds. Concrete floors, so no mice problems. He is a breeder, he breeds cockatiels, budgies, rainbow lorikeets, etc. Also, he had a baby lovebird, a blue princess parrot and others when I went. I bought 2 male cockatiels from him, a normal grey and a split pied. They are beautiful birds. Shadow - split pied, is not rung, but Storm - normal, is. He is a very helpful man, and will answer all your questions, and gives you ideas too.

I'm confused after reading this thread. Is Bird Haven and bird_paradise the same member????

HI Derek,

No, Bird Haven is my friend we live together and I was on her name when we put the ad on. MB, no sorry, he didn't have any cockatoos, but I have another number for a guy in Altona Meadows who has corellas and other cockatoos $30 I think. I can give you his number if you like, he has TONS of happy healthy birds. I have bought birds off him before. He also sells seed in bulk and nesting boxes etc.

Thanks,

Sam

That's close to us. Is it better than Eltham Stockfeed?

I have never been to Eltham stockfeed so I can't compare but I have always been very happy with the seed from Greensborough.

I better check it out!

If you ever do get the chance to go to the seed and grain shop right next to Eltham Stockfeed beware of Bill! He's an evil bird (I don't know what type but he is white and has a very long hooked beak) who tries to con people into giving him a "scratch" so he can bite your fingers off!

They have a couple of lovely ringnecks there who are always loose and are very friendly and will sit on people's shoulders.

Does Bill look like Suzie in my signature but with a longer beak? He sounds like a long-billed Corella (Suzie is a 'Little Corella', sometimes people call them short-billed Corellas)

I just googled pics of long billed corellas and Bill's bill is even longer.

Oh I bet that's why he's called Bill! Next time I go there I'll ask them what kind of bird he is.

He is quite chatty and will ask for a "scratch?" (fortunately they have warning signs on his cage)

Nope you're right!

Bill IS a long billed corella

And an evil one at that too. Well worth a visit to say "hello" but do NOT give him a "scratch, scratch" no matter how be begs. It's an evil plot to get your finger!
