Posted June 4, 200817 yr Hi everyone, I saw my budgie pair mating about 3 days ago in the aviary!!!!!!!!!!! They are a cobalt normal cock and a sky blue and white reccessive pied hen. What will the babies be? How long before I should have eggs? Thanks, Sam
June 4, 200817 yr You should have all normals split to recessive pied, depending on what they're hiding/split for and if you described them properly :rip: If you saw them mate and they did it properly and it's already been 3 days I'd say you "could" possibly expect them with 6- 9 days... Could be less, could be more.. but that's what I'd expect.
June 4, 200817 yr Do you have colony breeding going on in the avairy and how many nestboxes if you do ? If not, then its just budgie bonking and no eggs unless they think they have somewhere to lay them.

Can you describe to me in a bit more basic way the colours anyone? Im no expert on the split to pied kind of thing. Will they be pied cobalt? THanks, Sam
June 4, 200817 yr The pied you have is recessive so none of the babies will look pied unless your normal happens to be carrying the pied gene. They will most likely look like normals but they will be carrying the pied gene which means that the grandchildren of your pair could be pieds if the babies are bred to another recessive pied or split pied bird.
June 7, 200817 yr I had a embarrassing moment the other week. I took my mum and one of her friends to look at the birds. When we walked into the breeding section 6 pairs were going for it. They mated for ages! My mum turned and said "OMG what do you feed these things"??
