What Should I Do?

Featured Replies

Me again! The reason im posting the picture is because today, I have had one of the babies jump out of the box, the nesting box it's up high in the cage and he had no chance of getting himself back in the box.

There is two more following close behind !

I'm wondering if its a good idear to place them in a shoe box on the bottom of the cage so they can explore the cage. If they feel like it.But if i was to do that! will dad keep up the job feeding? The youngest one of the four still really needs to be fed by dad.

And I wont be able to keep a eye on them I will be away from home 10 to 12 hours a day over the next few days.

What should I do?

At that stage I put the nest box on the floor of the cage with the end 'door' left off. If it is the type of box with the top lid instead of a sliding door then I lie the box on it's side. That way they still seem to recognise it as the nest box and if the older babies get out they can easily get back in again.

Do you think dad will be fine with moving the box and keep up feeding?

You could always do it as soon as you get home from work and then keep an eye on him for a few hours. At that stage they will start to kick up a stink if dad hasn't fed them. Personally I try and steer clear of seperating them(by leaving some in the box and putting another box of some sort onthe floor) as I feel there is more chance of someone getting forgotten that way.

This is good advice :D
