A New Pair

Featured Replies

Yesterday my husband had to deliver a rabbit hutch that we had sold and took my 9 year old son with him (big mistake...lol) He has wanted his own pair of budgies for ages but I just hadn't got around to getting him any. Long story short the man that got the rabbit hutch breeds budgies and he bought a pair home with him.

I think the hen is a Yellowface skyblue cinnamon wing and the cock is a skyblue opaline??

The guy said they are give or take a week either side of 3 months but I think they are a bit older?

Check his leg ring. If you write down what it says on it we might be able to tell you. There will be a number which is at right angles to the rest and that will be the birth year.

That won't help, it's just a split plastic ring with the number 82 on it.

The YF cinnamon is a baby and the skyblue cock is at least a year or older.

This is what I thought. It makes me so mad when breeders lie about the birds ages, it makes no sense to me.

Did you pay top dollar for the pair of them.Being only pets,$10 would be tops.

They are very cute budgies no matter what age.Good luck with them.

Agree with the others one the ages mate, look at the cocks eyes too has an iris ring, deep blue cere, she is between 3 - 6 months as her cere is changin to the tan/ brown which happens after the first molt

I think the hen could be about 3 months, but the cock at least twice that age. As long as your son likes them that’s all that matters, is he going to become a breeder or did he want them as pets?

They were only $15 for the pair.

Yes Norm my son is very happy with his choice, which is the main thing. We haven't spoken about him breeding them as yet, but I'm sure he will want to go down that road, he's very hands on helping with our other breeders. ;)
