May 30, 200817 yr Author According to the page listed by Derek, from those airports you need to pay the AAE rates. Also because it would have to go to a seperate terminal my mum wouldn't be able to drop it off, she won't have any transport in Perth.
May 30, 200817 yr Author Just spoke to AAE, it will be $50, as much as I would love a Cremino, probably not that much!
May 30, 200817 yr When we got to Perth to pick up the birds we then could give some lose seed. MB could be right in the fact that some states have different rules. I Queensland, you can't transport Banana Plants past a certain point. Just spoke to AAE (Australian Air Express) Brisbane to Melbourne. Millet sprays are fine, Water is okay (soaked on cloth not by it's self) but not a necessary. They really don't like lose seed as it goes everywhere. Cost of a 1 to 2 kg cage including the birds will cost $66.80au. Perth has different regulations to do with Seed and birds. Edited May 30, 200817 yr by Daz Information from AAE.
May 30, 200817 yr Author WA has VERY strict rules about plant material as does Tasmania, plant material has to come from approved sources, we used to ship aquarium fish to WA and one of the hardest things was checking every bag to make sure there wasn't any zuchini left overs in the water, etc because the slightest green fleck and we could get into trouble

I know where the place is to drop off and collect pets for travel in Perth as its the same as where I collected my siamese boys from. Its only a few hundred metres from the airport. May 30, 200817 yr Author But she would have to check it in 1 1/2 hours befor the flight and she doesn't actually have to be there until 30 minutes before hand. She is there on business and she's travelling with other people so it will throw out their schedule. I checked and she has to check it in personally otherwise it costs about $80.
May 30, 200817 yr Author Yes Liv but the more budgies you put in the bigger the box needs to be, the more it weighs and the more it costs. $80 is based on 2kg worth of box and budgies.
May 30, 200817 yr The travel boxes made especially for the birds bought at auction at the Nationals for travel home over east were made from 3 ply wood, and were very lightweight. Approx 5 or 6 inches square by around 10 or 12 inches long. They said they would take 5 budgies in them. A lot of bird dealers have these travel boxes as they have birds travel back and forth using them. I have seen such boxes for sale from the bigger bird dealers myself. I have a travel box here and it is twice that size. Not sure what it would cost to send. BUT I do have more budgies for sale and I do have quite a few I am about to cull. May 30, 200817 yr Looks like i'll be making some more travel cages. I made the one for Henry Georges birds to go to Perth but when more became available, they went in a bigger box.
May 30, 200817 yr Here is the travel box I currently have but it may be bigger than you need it to be.
June 12, 200817 yr Stumbled on this and it got me thinking we so need to get a group of melbourne people together that want Kaz's babies.. i mean birds and just get her to ship us an aviary! Weird how different places have different rules when i was in Europe I got on a flight and the guy across from me had this HUGE Blue bird in a cage sitting in the seat next to him. He had paid for this bird to fly bisness class with him and no on batted an eyelid!
June 12, 200817 yr Author I agree AV, we worked out we can probably get 5 or 6 shipped for $80 or so. I depends on weight so we would need to work out the weight of the box plus the weight of the budgies and get a quote from AAE.
June 12, 200817 yr I am not allowed anymore birds so i would not be in on that nope not at all... just like I am not on the waiting list for Ozzies offspring@ Who do I make the Cheque out to? Edited June 12, 200817 yr by Angelic Vampyre
