Hi again, well I'm in need of your help once again. I need to know if this chick is a boy or girl please! I'm slowly getting more experience in sexing chicks but cant decide on this one! Not a real good photo, can take a better one in the morning if necessary,Thanks in advance!

better photo please...I have mixed feeling it looks like the cere type of a male because of the smoothness and the bulbous of the nostrils but pale like a female, did you use a flash?

Yes I did. Will take a better photo in the morning without the flash!

My instincts say it's a hen...

A - it's cinnamon so there's a greater chance of it being a hen.

B - It's cere colour looks opaque and white with a tinge of blue, like young hens get.

Although that's not a definate... A better picture in the morning without flash would be good ;)

Pretty bird by the way

What were the parents? That would clear it up a bit too ;)

Agree with Libby on this being a cinny ..........

I would say hen also, but I've been wrong before....hehe

I say hen because, even though the 'rings' around the nostrils are not defined, they are there in a blurry sense, and the colour of the cere is right for a hen - male would be more pinky/purple

this is a photo of one of the babies from the first ever clutch i had. He is about three weeks old and is a boy.

hope this helps!

Thanks very much everyone, it's great to call on you all for help!

The parents, I can't see that the hen is a cinnamon so it would have to be a hen because the father threw the gene which I don't see he is a cinnamon either, if I am right on that then genetically you could only have a hen, that is what is wonderful with the sex-linked genes if you know how they work you can sex your babies immediately.

Hen from me also not olny because her cere is an opaque white/blue like most young hens are, but also because of her genes :D
