any names? and he actually has something growing of his head feathers? like thick line type things. :(

Do you think these two would have nice babies?

The feathers on his head is just new pin feathers coming through, he is moulting that's all :(

He is what's known as a show type budgie, just so you know you will only get green babies from those two unless your female is carrying blue, if you want blue or grey babies you will need to get a different female.

Did you buy him and put him straight in with another budgie ? Quarantine is very important.........30 days minimum at least 5 metres away from any other birds, seperate room, seperate cage.

I would remove him from the hen immediately and quarantine. He has been caught and moved to a petshop...that equals stress conditions. He has been given a new diet at the petshop...more stress conditions. He has been caught and moved to your place...more stress conditions. He has a new diet and a new bird in with him...more stress conditions. AND he is moulting. All of the above conditions equate to stress in a bird...all of the above can make him ill. Thats exactly why you quarantine and exactly why he must be away from any of your exisitng birds in quarantine. Look up quarantine in our FAQ section.

Breeding also is stress and he could die partway through.

Your anxiety and excitement to get breeding happeening may cause illness to him and others he is with.

okay! he is moved and is in a smaller cage. i didnt relise how much stress a budgie can have.

thankyou kaz for the advice. can you think of any names? Do you think he looks like your george?

What about stormy since he is the colour of storm clouds...

As far as 'variety' if we assume she isn't carrying blue then all of your babies will be green and could be spangles(wing markings like mum) or normals(wing markings like dad), that's assuming they aren't hiding anything :(

Yes. he does look like George, but your boy is bigger I would say. How about GRADY for a name ?
