i need to get aviary mesh for the cage, where can i find it? and what does it look like?

A bird supplier should stock it. Also your local hardware store.

There's all different kinds... depends which you're after :)

This is square aviary mesh 13mm x 13mm - it also comes in a retangular type.

This is the cage I put the mesh on. It is a quarantine cage. The mesh needs to go on the inside of the cage.

And the mesh needs to be tightly sewn using wire to the cage edge and at the corners. There can not be any places for your birds to get their legs caught etc. Also you will need to clean up all the edges to ensure there are not any sharp bits - espeically around openings and at the base of the cage. I tucked the wire in between the cage base and the wire to keep all the sharp bits away.

Around the doors is the hardest part to cover. I sew fabric around the edges of the doors - I don't have a picture of this because it's a quarantine cage and it's been cleaned ( except for the stray feathers from the aviary hahaha) and I haven't sewen fresh fabric on yet.

You will need to wash the wire with vinigar, leave for 2 hours then rince off with water, to remove the zink.

I don't really feel it's good for a permanet setup, but it will see your babies though until you can either get a new cage. You never know, they might grow big enough in time to not fit through the bars - they are still growing :)

Hope this helps.

Your local hardware store should sell it. The advice above is great.

I have a great guy who sells heaps of different sized aviary mesh I realise you are too far away but you may be able to find someone there that does the same. I found him in the local paper and he is pretty cheap too. It would be the best way to go if you really like the cage.
