Posted May 25, 200817 yr Hi, I'm building some breeding cages, in addition to the double one I won on Ebay for $36! What is the measurements I need to go by when making them? For cockatiels and for budgies Thanks, Sam Edited May 25, 200817 yr by bird_paradise
May 25, 200817 yr I use quite large ones for the tiels, they are about 2ft square on the front and about 1 ft deep(don't forget it will need to accomodate up 6 or 7 or more birds when the babies start to grow). I don't have any budgie breeding boxes yet (grrrr )so can't help you there. Edited May 25, 200817 yr by melbournebudgies
May 25, 200817 yr Budgerigars prefer as much room to exercise as possible. Available space will dictate the size of the breeding cage. Commercially manufactured Breeding Cages range between 12 inches height x 18 inches wide to 18 inches height x 36 inches wide. Depth being approximately 12 to 16 inches. Experience shows that the larger the breeding cage the more successful the clutches. (need to add picture of large breeding cage) You can also click here for more information Here is mre information too CLICK
May 26, 200817 yr I would suggest MINIMUM breeding cage size to be at least 14 inches high, by 12-14 inches deep by 16 or more inches wide.
