We got 2 walls covered with wire today. While we were doing the roof i decided that i think it would be better to put a sheet of laserlite on the breeding room to let some light in so the roof will not get finished now till i get the laser lite.

That is a good idea about the laserlite Deb. I plan on putting some on my roof to let in more light when i make future modifications.

Are those chickens in that last shot? Have you always had them? How come I did not notice them before.. WHEN I WAS THERE?!?!?!?!?!?!

I have 3 chickens and for Mothers day my hubby made me a chicken pen and bought them for me so that is why you did not notice them.Mmmmm, nice fresh eggs.

Don't put the laser lite over where the birds are going to roost.

I had it in a middle roof section of a old aviary, the trouble is whenever something flue over the budgies were always ducking and weaving. Thinking it's a predator ready to swoop down and have them for dinner. So they would sit either side on the clear section were they felt safer.

Also on those clear full moon nights it can spook them as well, if a bats fly over. Then you get night fright!

Just a thought! :D

i finally got some more materials for my avairy and have started working on it again. I could not afford the laserlite so i am gone with a full tin roof. Got the tin on the roof and the walls today so hopefully tomorrow i can get some more wire on. It was too dark when we finished to take pics but while we were working Lucy decided that it was not going to be a aviary but her princess house.

Looking good Deb, I hope the build goes fast for you.

Got another picture this morning, the rest of the avairy is going to be wire. Breeding room is on the right and aviary on the left. Hubby decided make the roof overhang to give the birds some more protection from the wind and rain.

It looks like you've been busy! I can't wait to see it! Looking good!!!

The last couple of days i have been working on my avairy, got tired of waiting for hubby to finish it so decided to tried to do it myself. I am not handy with tools like most of the girls here so i used hand tools to do all the work. i got the wire on 2 sides and the door finished, only one side left to finish so hopefully it will not be long till some of the budgies move into it.

Well done Deb. I built my lizard cages by hand and I had so many blisters from using screwdrivers... ouch!!! It's looking really good! :D

I did not get any blisters, just heaps of scratches all over my arms and hands from the weld mesh, the edges of that stuff is sharp.

Warm detol hard/arm soak! It will sting but will help in the long run :D

LOOKS AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike and I spent all yesterday working on the avairy and i am nearly finished, just have to finish the middle divider wall and then fit it out. I was able to get a screen door for free which was great. The weld mesh i am using is suppose to be mouse proof and the other aviary has the same size mesh and no mice can get into it so i am not going to put tin on and see how it goes.
