August 30, 200816 yr Fantastic job Deb. I might need to see about providing you with more birds next breeding season - LOL. Well done, looks great.
August 30, 200816 yr Author The problem is i have 2 good size aviaries but I spent all my money on materials so i cannot afford to get any new budgies yet.
August 31, 200816 yr Looks really good Deb…great job. Don’t worry about not having money to buy new birds, put down a few pairs & you will soon fill it. I know you might want some improve types, but then you can sell some of the young & get the more expensive ones later. You don’t really need the tin if the wire is the proper mouse proof stuff. Only problem the buggers can climb anywhere, so make sure there are no holes even up near the roof. The thing is with tin at least some way up the front is it’s also good to stop rain blowing in, in wet weather, as moisture is the enemy of healthy birds.
August 31, 200816 yr Looks awesome Deb. You guys have been busy. It's exciting that it's nearly finished and full. I LOVE fitting it out. That's my favorite bit. I'm sure the birds will love it

September 8, 200816 yr Deb that is fantastic :hap: You must be so pleased with that. And you have a safe area to walk into and store and keep breeding cages and no escapes through there. Wonderful work. Big pats on the back.
September 8, 200816 yr Looks excellent! although one query, is there much wind protection for the birds in the flight? looks like it's open on all four sides and could be quite windy?
September 8, 200816 yr Author Looks excellent!although one query, is there much wind protection for the birds in the flight? looks like it's open on all four sides and could be quite windy? Even though the four sides are all open, the breeding room has a tin walls and we have made the roof over hang. There is a big tree and a fence behind the back of the aviary. The other aviary is right next to it so the wind does not get in it alot, i hope that makes sense.
September 8, 200816 yr Hi Deb, It must be so exciting to get it finished, I've got a new breeding room/aviary in the process of being made and I'm going to post it real soon maybe even today, but it seems to be taking so long for each little progress to be made, so I didn't want everyone to loose interest waiting for the progress pictures as it is reallyyy slooooowwww, but WOW look at yours all finished. Enjoy your new avairy and breeding room.
September 8, 200816 yr Deb, now you have 2 aviaries, how do you decide which birds go in which aviary? Have you designated them purposes?
September 8, 200816 yr Author Deb, now you have 2 aviaries, how do you decide which birds go in which aviary? Have you designated them purposes? i have decided to seperate by ages, one aviary has all the budgies under 18 months old and the other has the older budgies. The 4 show budgies i own are young but i put them with the older birds because of their size.
