Sore Eye

A friend just rang me to ask advice for her budgies. He has been rubbing his eye and has rubbed the feathers off around the outside of his eye and his eye is half closed. There are no vets opened till monday so i was wondering is there something she could bathe the eye in to stop it from being itchy so he will leave it alone. He is fine in himself, no runny poos, chirping and eating. She is not sure if he is moulting.

Maybe just luke warm water? I'm not sure if you can add anything to it or not, as you'd have to be careful around the eye...

I'd say soak it in salty luke warm water... and wait for the vet :o

I agree with Libby. If she doesn't want to try and get the salt solution right you can get little tubes of saline for first aid from the chemist pretty cheaply.

Teabag and tea water is better than salty water. Salt can iritate an already iritated eye.

A friend of mine always recommended a tea bag on each eye as part of a Do It Yourself facial so it must be soothing.

i rang my friend to night and the budgies eye is better, it is moulting at the moment so i think it has properly been rubbing its eye because it was itchy.
