Posted May 23, 200817 yr HELLO THERE I have 'adopted' two Budgies. The male is a brilliant dark blue and the female is a beautiful aqua. They share a good-sized cage. They have three perches, a calcium bell, a piece of cuttlefish and a hanging toy and of course water and seed containers. Up until recently they seemed to be happy but lately the female has started an annoying and noisy habit. She is constantly picking at one corner of the cage - and one corner only. She seems fixated with it even though there seems to be nothing unusual about the corner of the cage she is picking at. I have tried moving the cuttlefish into the corner but that only makes her determination to get at the corner stronger. She will hang up-side-down in an effort to get to the spot in the corner she wants to pick at. She has even been able to dislodge the cuttlefish that is in her way. :fear HELP!!! I need some peace and quiet!!!!!
May 23, 200817 yr sounds like she is a bit hormonal with that particular side, I would rearrange her whole cage...toys, perches everything to make it a different setting, if that doesn't help make sure that your birds are getting at least 10-12 hours of cover cage time this keeps them in check with the hormonal stage.
May 24, 200817 yr I agree with Elly. She sounds like she needs more dark (covered with a dark cloth) time. This should quieten her hormones and make her 'normal' again :fear
