Posted February 20, 200520 yr Hi everyone, My budgie Rocky began his first moult around the 15th december and he is still moulting now. I had thought he had finished the other week but then he seemed to start losing feathers again. Does it usually last so long?

February 20, 200520 yr rocky also lost his tail feathers. I was really proud of them too. But now he has lovely long ones. He looks a right scruffy thing on his head though and round his cheeks where he has feathers sticking out. I'm sick of hoovering feathers up aswell. :bluebudgie:

February 20, 200520 yr your mum must be busy with the hoover then Imotive or do you have to do it yourself?
February 20, 200520 yr Hoover is the name of a vacuum manufacturer. I would have thought with your genious status you would have known that :bluebudgie:
February 20, 200520 yr hehe your funny iactually didn't kno becasue we live in canada we have different vacuum manufacturers like if you said you were...for example electrolux i wou have known what you were talking about...
February 20, 200520 yr James Spangler invented a portable electric vacuum cleaner - the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner. James Spangler formed the Electric Suction Sweeper Company to manufacture his new vacuum cleaner. In 1907, James Spangler, a janitor working in a Canton, Ohio department store, deduced that the carpet sweeper he used on the job was the source of his cough. One of his first customers was his own cousin, who was married to William Hoover, a saddlemaker and leather merchant looking for a new business. William H. Hoover was so impressed with the vacuum cleaner that his wife bought that Hoover bought into Spangler's business and patents, becoming the president of the Electric Suction Sweeper Company. William Hoover renamed the company the Hoover Company in 1922. James Spangler stayed on with the Hoover Company as the superintendent.
February 20, 200520 yr That doesn't prove anyhitng and we are getting a little off topic if you wann atalk about smartsd talj about it in the other post!
February 20, 200520 yr Ahem..... back to topic. The first molt can take a few months. Depending upon the temperature where you are, if you have the heat on I think that tends to bring on a molt as well. Ever since it got cold I have had feathers everywhere. Some days it looks like one of them exploded...
February 20, 200520 yr (Laughing out loud) im rolling on the floor with that joke some days it looks like one of them exploded that really is funny...but i don't get how heat makes moutls quicker...thanks for putting the topic on board!
February 20, 200520 yr heat doesnt make the moult quicker, but heat, amount of light all affect the condition of the bird so will affect the moult
