Posted May 21, 200817 yr I am not sure if any of you remember but I had posted a picture of the parents on here a while back to make certain this was a good pair, I had such trouble getting a chick from them ...they will not be paired again. For some reason I had 3 of the chicks die...2 from the 1st round and 1 from the 2nd so after the 1 from the 2nd clutch died on me I took her eggs and fostered them. This is the only one that hatched and thank god I finally have a chick! Here are the parents again...next time the sire is going with a violet hen I have, hoping that will be a good pairing. I have been working hard and watching my birds closely. As in my post yesterday I am definitely looking forward to my first show, I have a man who 'mentors' me and has really been helpful so with any luck! My best to all and more later! May 22, 200817 yr Kaz, why does the baby have to be a hen? If the dad is a lacewing I would have thought the chick could be either.
May 22, 200817 yr I think you will find that it’s not have to be, as, as you say they could have either sex, I think it’s just in Kaz’s expert opinion [she’s good at picking them young] think I will leave that to her. Sueanneleach, glad you at least got one out of them, it’s a bit early to tell for sure, but you would think it would be a Lacewing.

May 22, 200817 yr I thought the Yellow was the cock too Kaz, on second looks I also see it’s the other way around, so Mum must be split for Blue.
