June 11, 200817 yr Spent a bit of time with a show breeder on Monday who has a number of the yellow TCB budgies. He always pairs with Lutinos to improve that buttercup colour.
June 11, 200817 yr Well I thought it was about time for an update We have two ino's (albino and lutino) And two TCB one green and one... VIOLET (Now that was a big very happy suprise) The green TCB seems to have taken after it's mother size and featherwise, as has the Lutino, The violet TCB is a mix between both parents sizes and the Albino i'm not sure on yet - The Violet TCB - Her wing - The green TCB - Her wings - Face shot - The albino - And again - The lutino - and again - And a cute one of both TCB's! Wow Libb looks great HOW GOOD IS THAT ino one of each and they are male too Violet TCB Who would have thought!!! . Not me I thought that they were only green and white .... Totally gelous
June 11, 200817 yr They look great Libby, amazing luck getting one of each colour in all the mutations, I can’t believe it. The TCB’s look like they have Spangle in them also. I was thinking of breeding them with a Spangle at a later date to see what they would look like. I still haven’t been able to breed a Blue TCB yet, mated one of mine to a Blue Opaline & he was split for Blue but in two batches I didn’t get one Blue. I haven’t got your luck by the look of things.
June 12, 200817 yr Author Not luck, beginners fluke They look spangle but if you look closer at some of the bigger feathers they're Dark edged with light as opposed to light edged with dark. We were confused at first when we first saw them also until we looked at those feathers. Although the smaller feathers definatly look spangle, I plucked one to have a good look (yes I know mean!) It's a light grey that goes to a dark grey on the edges and then edged by white, which gives the spangle look because you can't see the first grey part nor the last white part. So which would you like named after you norm :hap: :hap:
June 12, 200817 yr I don’t want to curse one of them by choosing really, but I like the Yellow ones the best, anyway it might be a hen & you can call it Norma. I couldn’t get at what you were meaning about the feathers, were you meaning that even though they look a bit Spangle you think they are still Normals, but with altered feather colour. I know to be Spangle either parent has to be a Spangle, but the Lutino could be almost masking anything.
June 13, 200817 yr Author Yeah that's what I meant Norm I thought they were spangle on first glance also, untill I looked closer and saw they were light grey, then the boarder of dark grey then the edging of white, so like a normal feather, but faded in the solid part, you can see it in the wing picture where it's stretched out. In some of his longer feathers where you see the whole feather. Well the green is Norm or Norma! I'm guessing it's a norma by it's bite
June 13, 200817 yr Yeah Libby I looked at my two Normals yesterday, I only have two Normal TCB’s the rest are Opaline & you may be right.
