Posted May 20, 200816 yr Well after deciding to pair up my Large Lutino hen (07 rung) to my medium sized TCB cock (unrung) and hoping for the best, we've had some success From the outcomes we've worked out my TCB cock is split to Ino. Both parents are split to blue apparently also. After plucking their vent and crossing our fingers to hope for the best we had 5 eggs laid. All five were fertile although one was addled in it's early stages. Four chicks hatched out. Two normal dark eyed chicks first, then two red eyed. The fourth chick i didn't think would make it out of it's egg. Over the last 4-5 days of it's incubation the air sack at one end of the egg was taking up well over half of the eggs interior space. I thought it would surely dry up and become a DIS. On the last day of it's incubation it didn't hatch in the morning. I checked the egg and found it chirping. In my experience with hatching chicks out when in need if they've been chirping for a few hours they're capable of coming out. Any earlier and it's too early. Luckily for me I was spot on time and got it out fit and healthy :dbb1: Well according to the information on Daz' website about TCB pairings these are the outcomes Clearbody / Ino cock × Ino hen = 25% Clearbody / Ino cocks 25% Ino cocks 25% Clearbody hens 25% Ino hens So it looks like we have two TCB's and 2 ino's One TCB is Blue, the other Green. The Ino's are too young to tell yet. - Hen ( This photo doesn't do her justice. She's a very large bird.) - Cock - Chick 1 who hatched ( Blue TCB) - Chick 1 again - Chick 2 to hatch ( Green TCB) - Chick 3 to hatch (Ino) - Chick 4 to hatch (another ino)
May 20, 200816 yr Oh wow Lib, Im so jealous! Two of my favourite colours. I am so in love with your ino hen . Can I just borrow her for a clutch? LOL Good luck with your babies, I look forward to seeing the piccies as they develop :dbb1:
May 20, 200816 yr Author Thanks tracy Yeah you can borrow her... anytime you pop over to Perth hehe It'd be nice to get a albino and a lutino, one of each sex... and two TCB's being one green one blue and one of each sex also LOL Somehow i don't think my luck is that good LOL!
May 20, 200816 yr Great news Libby…good luck with them, I know it’s too early to really tell, but no3 looks more like an Albino to me, so your wish might come true. Nice parents chicks should be nice too.
May 20, 200816 yr Author Hehe thanks guys!!! I think as the typical thing to do since he knows the most on this variety the first blue guy will be called Norm

May 20, 200816 yr Author The hen came from a man at the MBC named jake... But the breeder was Rita Posthuma i think is how it's spelt... Or atleast i'm pretty sure it was hers LOL i'll have to check her ring in the morning
May 20, 200816 yr very cool, the parents are beautiful and I can't wait to see the chicks feather up even more
May 20, 200816 yr Hehe thanks guys!!!I think as the typical thing to do since he knows the most on this variety the first blue guy will be called Norm Don't do it Libby I know nothing... ... & Why Blue do you think I’m miserable?…I like the HOT colours. Edited May 20, 200816 yr by Norm
May 21, 200816 yr Author Be honest Norm... my birds aren't good enough for you And you do so know stuff about them So tough, the name sticks And if it turns out to be a hen... well... hehe oh well Norm can be a girls name... right ??? Blue isn't miserable would you prefer HOT pink ??? I have some food dye somewhere LOL!
May 21, 200816 yr Not sure about the Name Libby. I named my first TCB Norm and he died. Name might be cursed - no offense Norm - LOL
May 21, 200816 yr That was what I was trying to tell her Dave. Yes if it's a hen it could be Norma, not a problem, might even be safer…LOL… Who said your birds aren't good enough for me, if you & Kaz weren't so far away I'd be over to check em out. Blue is Blue... [blue on Blue heartache on heartache] as the song goes... Yellow is HOT…yes actually I would prefer a HOT PINK Budgie if you were going to give one to me…but none of that food dye stuff I want a genuine genetic PINK…no fakes. Lost my Yellow Pied Fallow hen last week Libby, before I could get a picture of her, just found her dead one morning with four young chicks in the nest under one week, fostered them out…at least got about 8 chicks from her, some Yellow Some Blue. Edited May 21, 200816 yr by Norm
May 21, 200816 yr Author I hate losing special birds!!! I mean no bird is replacable, but fallows are sure alot harder to get hold of and keep going in an aviary unless you have a few. Sorry you lost her One day they'll make a Pink budgie Although it'll probably be some butt ugly hybrid with a rosa bourke hehe Norm or Norma... either sounds good to me And the name is sooo not cursed You should see Frodo now (the fallow i bred) he's gorgeous and getting bigger by the week I shall do an update post of how all 4 of my first show chicks are looking What song is that from By The Way? It tells lies though Blues can still be HOT Edited May 21, 200816 yr by *libby*
May 21, 200816 yr Thanks Libby…her young look a bit small, but still young so may develop more. Blue on Blue…Bobbie Vinton…probably too old for you…LOL… Will be looking forward to your Fallow update.
June 11, 200816 yr Author Well I thought it was about time for an update We have two ino's (albino and lutino) And two TCB one green and one... VIOLET (Now that was a big very happy suprise) The green TCB seems to have taken after it's mother size and featherwise, as has the Lutino, The violet TCB is a mix between both parents sizes and the Albino i'm not sure on yet - The Violet TCB - Her wing - The green TCB - Her wings - Face shot - The albino - And again - The lutino - and again - And a cute one of both TCB's!
