May 17, 200816 yr Wing clipping is a personal preference. Some very good articles are available on wing clipping in our FAQ section. To sex the budgie we need a front on photo clearly showing the cere in natural light. Your photo is side on and the budgies face is shaded. Try for a better and clearer photo.
May 17, 200816 yr I agree with Kaz, and your budgie is sweet. As for clipping Pretty came clipped and his wings grew out, Merlin was clipped and his grew out and then I did have him clipped last year after Pretty died to work on trust and taming since then he has not been clipped again. Clipping is great way to be able to work with them one on one and not chasing them non clipped birds are hard to tame because they can get away from you and also hurt themselves. Some people keep their budgies clipped all the time for saftey because of ceiling fans but one thing I tell people don't think a clip bird can't get out of the door and fly away because all they need is a little lift from the new feathers molting in and they are off so always be careful. Also if you have cats and dogs keeping them unclipped is a good idea for that safetly because then they can get away from danger...so many ifs and buts why do you want to clip?
May 17, 200816 yr aww your budgie is cute...my charlie always gets cheeky when his wings are not clipped and wants to fly everywhere except near me...when his wings are clipped he behaves and stayes with me as he knows without me he cant fly anywhere haha..
