Welcome, First of all how old are they? and are they in breeding condition? Are you sure that the are a Male and Female as some mutations A male can be mistaken for a female .......

There are a lot of information in the FAQ in this forum to read first before thinking about breeding and getting them into tip top Health prior to breeding to have a read thru first an see if you have everything up to scratch.

A budgie will and can breed all yer round AS LONG AS THE CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT - Plenty of fesh seed, water and greens daily a safe place to breed ....Good luck

Hello and Welcome :wine

Neat has given you some great advice.

It would be great if you can post some pictures of your set up and of your birds to help us further to answer your questions :budgiedance:

Some good advice here. Are your birds paired up. ie Are the cock birds feeding/pruning the hens? If they are first timers it may take some time to form this bond.

yes they are about 2 years old and they are paired up nad in tip top health because i didnt breed them in the last 10 months so they are in great condition and they are supplied with nest boxes and cuttlefish and everything...so i have everything they need....

You need to spend some time watching the heirarchy and dynamics in the aviary. Colony breeding is hard and many things can cause issues. If you had selected your breeding pairs and pulled them out of the aviary into a breeding cage ( one pair per cage ) you most likely would have had success by now.

In watching your birds in the aviary you may find that one or other bird is stopping the paired ones from using the nestbox. In having 8 birds in the aviary and perhaps only two nestboxes there may be territorial claims laid on the boxes and some more dominant birds will sit atop the box and stop those that want them to enter. Often they fly at the bird who is trying to enter the box to deter them also from entering and using the box. Birds also will not use a nestbox that spiders or mice have been in so check for that. They wont use an insecure nestbox that wobbles about so check also for that.

Listen to Kaz on that one mate - I have almost lost hens and babies due to coloney breeding it was all going smooth sailing until Hens wanted other hens nestboxes and then it wa a blood bath

I have just stopped colony breeding too. I didn't have any real issues other than i didn't know who the father of the chicks were most of the time :(

If you are really keen to breed, and colony breeding is not working, use cabinets :D

If breeding cabintes is out of the question then I suggest that for every hen put in two breeding boxes.

Your just coming into spring/summer now arent you? Does the area have enough light/warmth to stimulate them into breeding?

Are they in an indoor or outdoor aviary?

in an outdoor aviary but were nearly into summer and the weather has been good the last two weeks so you any more advice

You could try taking the nest boxes out for a week or two and then putting them back, sometimes when they haven't seen it and then it appears they get excited and want to breed :D
