Diy Cuttlebone Clips

Featured Replies

You know those flimsy metal clips that come with the cuttlebones you buy at the pet store? You're supposed to bend them at different points in order to secure the cuttlebone to the cage bars. But for Many they never seem to work well. So She came up with a better way!

I like them in the normal Cages however in the aviary those clips do not fit in my mesh LOL ... I have a hole heap of them and they are no good for me

Why do eBay links do that to me on this forum. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr They are the metal clips.

The metal clips eventually rust due to the salt content of the cuttlebones :D

lol, it didn't work for me either i searched it in ebay ... THey are the metal squeeze ones

I have both Stainless steel and Plastic.

The Stainless Steel ones last longer, but I do through them out at the first sign of rust.

i do something like that for the cuttle fish out the in avary, however I put the holes at either end not in the middle (you do have to be mindful of snapping the ends off if too close)

i dont use clips. i make hooks from the wire clothes hangers. makes it a bit fun for the birds to nibble on the bone

Thats a great idea! I drill a hole through the middle and let my daughter put beads and seed treats on it and turn them into part of out home made toys.
