Well, I'm home and the babies have waited for me... none out of the eggs yet. BUT before I left yesterday, I checked on them, and Crackle had laid ANOTHER EGG!!!! I know!!! :) = 9. I know 2 are definately clear, so I guess we'll see what happens. :D

Wow Maesie, 9 eggs. She is certainly a good laying but i am glad they waited till you got home before they hatched.

It seems as thought she's stopping at 9, which is quite enough! Here's a picture I took tonight. I'm a bit unsure of the second egg from the left... maybe dead in shell? I'll leave it and see what happens. I didn't number the eggs so I'm not sure which is the oldest etc... The first was due today, but I don't think she started sitting tight straight away, so who knows.

Crikey! :D

:) I know!!!!! Two are definately empty, but if all the others hatch, she's goning to be a very busy first time Mum! Atleast her partner is very attentive. :D

WOW...I felt like I was looking at a dozen eggs there for a minute :D

I have been wondering the same thing Denise. have any hatched yet Maesie.

Still not :) I think there is one dead in shell and definately two blanks, so, if they were the first three laid, saturday could be the day :lol: ... In theory that is!!!!! lol... I'm trying not to be too impatient. The first day when I went out to check, I had my camera in hand, now I'm not taking it with me at first, in case I jinks them!!! ;) Crackle is being a great Mum though. She hears me coming now, and is usually out of the nest box when I open the door. If not, a soft tap and she moves out of the road no problems. I hope for her sake, she gets to raise some babies. It does crack me up though, as when I'm in the bird room checking in on the happy little family, I turn around and there is a line of onlookers, peering through the wire... usually lead by my cheecky budgies... I can just hear them saying- is there anything there yet??? Move out the road, I can't see... :huh:

i hope one of them hatches soon for you, i hate the waiting game. My budgies eggs should start hatching tomorrow.

Well... I did my morning check before work this morning to find two eggs with holes in them... all from the outside. The first had one hole and was pretty dried up inside, the second had quite a bit of blood on it and had several holes. I picked it up, and the chick inside was cheaping!!! :) Needless to say I was very excited. So, I went off to work hoping the day would pass quickly... It didn't. On my return I rushed out to the aviary camera in hand. When I opened the nest box, both chicks were still in their shells... no cheaping at all. They had both died. :) I had hopes for the little noisey one, not sure what happened. I presumed that if it was calling for its mother it was ready to come out. Perhaps she was a little rough at assisting him/her. I'm telling myself that it didn't survive for a reason, but it's still hard. I burred the two little ones under the creeper, where many of the other budgies who have passed are. I also put some flowers and said a little prayer. So, 7 remaining eggs, many still with veins and two where I could see the little black eye. Fingers crossed Crackle and Tweet Tweet will at least get a few babies. I'd feel sorry for them if they didin't. mmm :D

i am so sorry to hear that 2 little ones did not make it. i hope the rest have no problems getting out of their shells.

Sorry to hear your bad news Maesie :lol:

I hope more of their chickies hatch soon and are robust and healthy.

:D:wub::):)

Some time between 5pm last night and 7am this morning... a chick hatched!!! On my morning check I saw half an egg shell... more promising then a wholy egg. Crackle was not keen to get up, but when she did, the little one was wiggling away amongst the eggs... and it's crop was full. :D I didn't take pictures then as it was stil early. Well tonight when I got home from work, it was still wiggling, had a full crop and when Crackle got up, it began cheeping. She was looking at it to see what I was doing, and after she thought I was bothering her baby for long enough, she was in the nest box moving her eggs and baby to under her... What a good mother. So... here is my latest pride and joy:
