I am really excited.

There is a bird sale on in the Barrosa this weekend, and I am going!!!!

It is my first bird sale and i am hoping to get a nice budgie or two :P

Any tips for bird sales??? what are the prices like??? do I take cages? Will the birds be better quality than a petshop??? What is the set up like (its held in a large show hall)... etc etc etc... Any info from your experiences would be great :D

If it is anything like the one I went to recently then it will be fairly chaotic! You will probably need to take a travel box of some sort or buy one there as many sales don't allow open wire cages.

Best bet would be to get there early as it was very much like the boxing day sale at Myers

If you have time then buy any you desperately want and then hang around to the end as often the last birds walk out the door VERY cheap.

A bird or two  Good luck with that!!!!! lol. I've never been to one, but I've heard they are very addictive and you'll find it hard to stop at a few. I'll leave the advice for those who have been to them. Have fun, enjoy and bring home some sweeties!

.....The budgies cost me $10 each, $30 for a nice whiteface tiel and $15 for a red rump. If I had lots of money and more space I would have taken a HR baby king parrot for $150, they were gorgeous!

I am bursting with excitement!!! Anyone would think Christmas is coming hahahaha!!! I don't have a travel box... I will see if i can get my hands on one beforehand. I am planning on going early... it goes for 3 hours so i don't think i will be able to stick around the whole time.

Budgies for $10.... Thats chap... are they likely to be pet types or show types???

There were both at the one I went to. You will probably have to wade through a million finches though  There was even a crested breeder at the one I went to! He had some of his birds on display and I am on his list for a couple from his coming clutches. $40 for a crested, less for a crest bred.

Good luck, remember the checklist for the signs of a healthy budgie, I would assume you will find backyard breeders plus good ones so weeding that out making sure you are getting good quality birds for what you what. Have fun!!
