Posted April 28, 200817 yr Im just wondering, how do you clean a nesting box that has eggs in it? Can u move the eggs into another nest box and put that nest box up where the soiled one was or will moving the eggs be disturbing. Edited April 28, 200817 yr by Cara
April 28, 200817 yr You shouldn't really need to, the parents are unlikely to mess the box and the eggs certainly won't! If you have to then just gently take the eggs out and put them on a warm towel and then clean quickly, put the eggs back in and put it back in the same spot.
April 28, 200817 yr Cleaning a nestbox becomes more necessary when the chicks that hatch are around 2 weeks of age onwards. Until then its best to leave it alone.
