Posted April 27, 200817 yr I can't find the thread now but it was a great one on changing over to those water bottle feeder with the little steel ball bearing in the end. The problem I am having is the little dope does not know how to use it. I put his old one in today as it was warm and windy and he went straight to it for a drink. So how do I get him drinking from this this or where is that tread? Steve
April 27, 200817 yr I taught my lorikeet to drink out of a bottle. I put the bottle on the side of the cage and put a small empty water dish with the end of the bottle sitting in it. The drips are caught in the bowl and the bird learns to take the water from the bottle whie drinking the drips in the bowl. I didn't see the other thread so not sure how others have done it.

Steve I think the one with the ball is for smaller animals If you get a small bottle and poke a hole in the lid , turn it upside down it will have a small droplet , so when the bird drinks the drops keep coming. Birds will naturally find water as it is in their natural instincts , they can smell it from along way away. but keep a watch just incase
April 27, 200817 yr Author There was a great thread on here about why everyone should be using these things.

April 27, 200817 yr My birds don't like the bottle ... they hate that rubber nipple thing. I guess I have to go back to breast feeding again.
