Posted April 25, 200817 yr Hi I will soon be breeding to pairs of Budgie's the first pair will be in 2 months and the second about the same but I was wondering since I havent bought my second hen yet. because I was wondering what would I get from breeding Bailey my YF skyblue opaline with a blue spangle since I love the colour on spangle budgie's. And also I was wondering what I would get from breeding my 2 green budgies Lumina and George Jr. I know George and Bailey are brothers so if it helps in any way saying that. Im just curious. Here are some pictures. Also could someone tell me if her wing feathers are brown because they look it to me but what do I know. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd107/s.../DSCF0538-1.jpg http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd107/s...rljodie/007.jpg http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd107/s...rljodie/008.jpg Edited April 25, 200817 yr by KAZ Edited for shortcuts which are not allowed
April 25, 200817 yr I replied on the other post but I can see the photos on this one! I can see a faint tinge of blue through the chest feathers and around their bums, would I be correct here? Given his brother is YF I suspect he may be YF type 2 which results in the yellow bleeding through some or all of the body feathers and turning them green. April 25, 200817 yr I am so not good with breeding expectations so I can't tell you how they'd end up, sorry. They look good though
April 25, 200817 yr This might help to show you. This girl is cinnamon which means her colour looks washed out, if she wasn't she would be green like yours. You can see that the yellow has spread down her body turning the upper half of her green. In her case she is still blue from the waist down but some can be completely green so that it is hard to know whetghere they are green or YF.
April 25, 200817 yr That's not a normal green cinnamon melbournebudgies, that's a yf2 cinnamon, and to see the cinnamon she more needs a photo of the wings. Can you name your pictures Jodie with who's who so it's easier for us to work out who you're wanting to pair... And no birds in your pics are cinnamon :hap:

April 25, 200817 yr green x green will give you 100% normal greens... Without knowing the parentage it becomes impossible to predict all the outcomes... if the two cocks are brothers that suggest your cock is split blue, and possibly opaline But there's no certanties on that... The yf opaline cock x a spangle will give you birds that're 50% spangle 50% normal another 50% of both the spangles and normal will be yf and the cock will also produce opaline hens... that's all for visual genes... i can't tell you what percentage of what you'll get, but those are the outcomes i see.
April 25, 200817 yr Lumina and George the two light greens All your babies will be light green and if both birds are carrying the blue gene then you have a chance of blue babies but if not you will have 100% light greens just like theh parents. There are always recessive genes & sex linked genes that can be hidden by the parents and those may come out in this time around maybe not. Bailey my YF skyblue opaline with a blue spangle 50% spangles 50% normal pattern birds 50% Yellow Face Birds (but that is a guess because the white face could be a double factor YF 1 - we don't know) hens will be opalines so you can have a mixture of opalines, opaline spangles, spangles, normals all babies will be blue because blue is a recessive trait you can never get green birds from blue birds
