Cabela, the miniature pinscher (we adopted him last year in January, he was rescued out of a puppymill, they were using him just for breeding, he had a lot of issues that we are overcoming)

I LOVE CABELA ... without his little dress. No wonder he has issues. Your dogs look like they are enjoying Spring Elly. FINALLY ! Sunshine & warmth. "SIGH !"

Yes spring has sprung another 70 F degree day here today, I just hope we don't have a surprise snow storm but the latest one I remmber was on April 24th and that was 4 years ago where we got 24 inches of snow so I think we are in the safe zone :D.

Thank you both for your words...

they'rre so cute... you must give my apoligies to cabela though, until now i thought HE was a SHE :S

I get so annoyed when people call my bindi a boy :D to stop the confusion i paint her nails :D

:D Libby I think it is the name or something because Bella means beautiful but I didn't name him :D, there is a huge sporting goods store called Cabela's here in our parts and that is where the foster mom picked him up from the rescuer and so she named him after the store. Well I never changed it and now he knows his name but everyone thinks he is a girl all the time too :P.

Elly every time I see your boy I am struck by the fact that despite being a completely unrelated breed he bears a striking resemblance to out good old aussie kelpies out here. This is my girl as a pup (so you have to imagine her thinning out and getting her adult face) with my old dog Beau.

Take note Elly ... these dogs are wearing HOODIES ... Cabella was wearing a dress ! An ugly dress. HOODIE does not equal ugly dress.

Melb .. your pup & old dog are sweeties. I like the look of kelpies.

your dogs are beautiful Elly and they look like they enjoy seing the sun out.

this is the view from my bedroom window, the rectangular spot you see that the snow has melted is where my vegetable garden is.

we where lucky that we missed the big snowstorm that hit Calgary and Edmonton. we just got a sprinkle and the snow will probably be gone by tomorrow or the next day.

very sad for you birdluv, we had 70's for the 3rd day and sunny....I am sure it will rain soon I am SOOO spoiled right now.

Oh gees Birdluv ... that's horrid. Sorry to see that .... I hate to tell you it was a lovely 21`C here today ... sun sun sun & more sun ! I hope that snow isn't coming my way. I planted seedlings today. If I can keep the squirrels away they might have a chance. But I can't stop the snow !

:D Love your doggies as always Elly and the frog prince is really neat as well!! Sorry about the snow birdluv, it's just up in the mountains now. ^_^

The first time I saw the photo (before I realised what he was) my first reaction was "Who would crop a kelpies ears!". I will have to take a current photo to show you how similiar they really are.

Here you go

WOW that is incredible, and I read that the kelpies they think came more from the dingo line? His poor little ears and tails where cropped and docked when I got him :hap:, they are cute without it.

Around here of course you won't see any dog with cropped ears and now none with docked tails eaither as this is now outlawed. So our dobes and dobe pinschers have floppy ears, if I hold her ears down so the flop she looks just like a dobe in the face. Of course if I push my mums dogs ears back she looks like a seal so it shows you what the human imagination is capable of! :hap:

There are many theories as to the origin of kelpies, including dingos. They definately have a number of similiarities in the body shape.

Edited because I am unco and can't type tonight!

The US can't seem to get with the times or the AKC so to speak there are many advocates I know now it is optional to crop in the show ring, I would never crop, I can't even declaw which is pure amputation of the toes on a cat :hap:.

Heres a picture of my dog Star shes 7 in august

changed yr to your, thou to though and ty to thankyou. please try remember to use full spelling as short cut text typing is not allowed.

When I was a vet nurse and in the days where ears of dobermans were cropped....and I might add...it did not happen often over here in Australia...

BUT when it did....it was a horrible thing to experience as an operation....a template for the ear....scissors to cut away the excess, and cauterisation and stitching all around. Then taped into position and on a framework taped over the dogs head in a cradle like fashion for many, many weeks. Scarring and scabs, irritations and often infections. My exhusband wanted our dobermans ears cropped and I refused to allow it, having been a vet nurse and experiencing this as a vet nurse. He got his way with the tail docking, but I would not allow the ears to be cropped on our dobermans.
