Posted April 23, 200817 yr Well here he (or she) is in all his glory. A very very docile/tame baby. Was told je was only about 5 or 6 weeks old. When he's out of the cage he just sits in the one spot and does not move, maybe because the kids follow him everywhere. So how do I add photos? If I click on the icon above it askes for a web address. Steve
April 23, 200817 yr Author here we go http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll73/CY...008/buddie2.jpg Go back into Photobucket and use their resizing tool to get it down to 450 X 450 (or less). No worries, it took me a few tries and your picture is nice and clear!!! In the meantime members can click on the link to Photobucket. And your picture is good now! Please repost as I cannot find my glasses to restore it, thanks!! Edited April 23, 200817 yr by Phoebe Lovely picture but WAY oversize, you can edit to proper size in Photobucket.
April 23, 200817 yr Buddie is a GIRL budgie and not young...most likely around 8 months or even older. Unfortunately you were lied to about the age of the budgie. She is a Golden face type 2 cobalt budgie GIRL. But she looks tame enough and all must be going well ? Edited April 23, 200817 yr by KAZ
April 23, 200817 yr Author Hows that. Even if she is a girl and about 8 months is there any chance the kids could still teach her to talk? Is it normal for a bird so old Ha Ha, to be so tame straight from the pet shop? As she is very docile, just sits where ever u you put her, and if she's in her cage she does not move much when we enter the room. But saying that I came home at lunch time today and she was running around the bottom of the cage like a nut and chirpping out loud, having fun I would say. Steve ~ changed u to you ~ Edited April 23, 200817 yr by birdluv please do not use short cuts, they are not aloud to be used on this forum. for a list of acceptable shortcuts please read the Board Terms, Conditions and Rules on top of the page. thank you for understanding.
April 23, 200817 yr that picture is perfect. since she is a female she might not talk but you never know she might learn how to talk. there are some females that do talk but males are more known as to be talkers. it is good that she is so tamed already and she is settling in fine with your family
April 23, 200817 yr She is lovely :budgiedance: She may have been a pet to some one else prior to you. at her age, and without regular human handling, she would be wild and flighty - not happy to sit on your shoulder :budgiedance: I am really sorry you got mislead - It happens far to much for my liking Did you buy her from a pet shop?? Edited April 23, 200817 yr by **Liv**
April 23, 200817 yr Author Yes. I did get her from a pet shop. Do u (you) think I should take her back before the kids get too attached? and get a young male? My wife said we a luck to have shuch a tame bird. I just hope she is not sick or something. Steve Edited April 23, 200817 yr by Elly please no shortcuts
April 23, 200817 yr OH NO, don't take her back!!! I have an approximately 8 month female foster that is being adopted this weekend, she will step up and is a happy bird. You have a "lot" of family members to help out in the training so carry on, my rescue female sings a lot, is curious, and will only step up but I have no doubt she will work out fine in her new home with a lot of one on one. :budgiedance:
April 23, 200817 yr By the look of her, she will settle in nicely. Keep an eye on her health, check for poopy bottom, weight loss, fluffed up appearance and a sickly look. From the photo you provided she appears to be a healthy happy hen who enjoys your family's company
April 23, 200817 yr Regardless of how she came to be with you and any misleading by the pet store....she seems very happy to be in your home. She may well have been someones pet bird and was surrendered to the pet store for resale. She may just be quiet due to her first ever wing clip too, but I would say its due to she has been someones pet before this. She is lucky to have you. Females can talk...its just that the boys are keener to learn apparently. Please keep her and keep updating us on her progress. She is meant to be.....in your home and your lives. Lucky budgie and lucky people.
April 23, 200817 yr I agree with Kaz every bird needs a home...and she is very pretty You had a couple questions in the beginning. She is quiet and won't move because at this time she is probably fearful keep her quiet because in a week or so she will change and may start reacting to being scared such as biting this is very common with new budgies but you need to understand that no movement, being able to pet your bird is not acceptance of you but fear. Birds are not cats and dogs and don't like to be petted they do like a scratch on the top of their heads, neck area and that is about it. As for talking, females can learn to mimic very well talking is more difficult and boy budgies do talk better. No budgie is guaranteed to talk so if you got a bird for it to talk you may be disappointed. BBC has a wonderful article about Taming & Bringing a New Budgie home article in the FAQ's section, I suggest you read it talks about what do to the first week with your pet budgie, how to go about taming and more...
