Hi there,

okay, hope I am doing this right.. I am seriously in love with this little girl, she escaped today and I spent a good 10 minutes with my childrens' help getting her back to her cage! So without further adieu, here is Freckles:

what a beautiful bird, one tip though  if you want to tame your budgie quicker i would remove the mirror as it makes them bond to the mirror and not you :P didnt mean to burst your bubble as its up to you, but it helps:)

she is really cute

oh and by the way, just to give you a little heads up, they go through an escape period for about a week, where they go on the ground and pace back and forwards thinking if i go over here, then back over here mabye a hole will magically appear! Nope ill try again just in case... Nope, ill try again and it just keeps going on and on, quite funny though ;) Bing also escaped one time and caused havoc! but now he is okay :P

Welcome and she is beautiful...

I do agree with Andrew there is mixed feeling about mirrors but I personally have never used a mirror with either of my budgies. Many think it is cute to watch the budgie talk to the mirror bang it around not realizing that the whacking it is frustration because this object is not responding back. Also behaviors of protection, biting can come from having a mirror in the cage 24/7, some people will use the mirrors as rewards or just out of the cage time which is okay.

Thanks Andrew and Elly

Your advice is greatly appreciated! I will take the mirror out in the morning and use it just as a special treat then.

Cheers

Bec
