second is a yf2 cinnamon bub and the first is a cobalt pied... it looks recessive but could also be a non clearflight dom pied

The second one cannot be cinnamon as its body colour is too strong...It must be a YF2 greywing cobalt or violet.

First one looks dom pied to me.

Wings are brown on my computer. No sign of grey what so ever.

Do you have any photo's of it when it was just hatched by any chance?

I agree with Kaz, except that the first one could be Recessive PIed, if we knew the parents that would help.

Yes that pied cetainly seems to fall between two categories :ausb: Photo of the parents would solve it all

Thank you again for your help. My uncle Breeds Budgies in Alice and is asking me questions :) Now i will feel more confidant when i ring him tomorrow.

:D

Don't know if it's my eyes or P.c but The 2nd Bub eyes look red/plum ...

The 2nd once I am going with YF 2 Cinnamon and it would be a hen since the dad is a Cinnamon the first one looks to me like a recessive cobalt pied and looks male.

The first baby must be a Recessive Pied as neither parents are showing any Pied feathers, if it were Dominant one parent would have to be Pied. I was suspicious because of that one feather that was in between colour on the wing, which is common in Recessives, whereas Dominants usually have the complete feather either Pied or clear. Of course if your colony breeding & have another Dominant Pied in the aviary that could be the parent?

I still think the other chick is Grey wing, not Cinnamon wing. Look at the picture of the Dad; the bird to his left is a Cinnamon…lots of Grey wing have a Brownish look to them especially in photos.

So that means that both Mum & Dad are split for Recessive Pied & Mum is split for Grey wing.

Good observsation and I agree with what you said Norm, you are very right about the coloring looking brown on the computer screen on those greywings. Not sure about the strength of the coloring on the body of the bird but if it is strong I would say it is a full body greywing.

Hi Norm

To the question is there a Pied in the aviary that could be the parent? The answer is no.

I had only the 4 birds for a long time. On thursday one of my other hens who was sitting on eggs and the dad were eaten by a child's python.

so now I am left with 2 adults and 2 babies.

To every one else :D thank you so much

My sympathies I have problems with Carpet or Diamond Pythons here so I know what it’s like. Looks like you need smaller wire or check for holes.

re your pied if you don't have any other Pieds it must be Recessive Pied.

I'm sticking by Yf cinnamon. The cinnamon in the picture with the dad is a yf cinnamon and has a brightly coloured rump also. Some cinnamons look diluted, but not always all. I have a cinnmon in the nest right now who has a very intense colour on it's rump without dilution... and with the father being a definate cinnamon that's what the bub seems to be.

does that baby have brown wings? because then I would agree too and remember it would be a hen.
