I was wondering what mutations these guys are. The mom of these are cobalt and the dad is green. Wonder why these don't look like them.

The one at the back looks like a Cobalt Normal & the front one a Sky Blue Normal. your Green Dad must be split for Blue.[carry the Blue gene] if we could see a picture of the parents we could maybe help some more.

Also welcome to the forum hope you enjoy it. :D

Hi there,I am no expert but i would say cobalt normal and sky blue normal if the colours are true to the photo.Im sure someone will tell me if i am wrong. :)you beat me to it norm but i was right yey! i swear i didnt read your first!
Dad could be split for blue or he could be yellowface blue pretending to be green

That's a thought MB...it certainly a possability.

I believe you Misslu...great minds think alike. :D

Here is the parents of the previous post...where do you all get those cute avaters?

Thanks so much.

Just checking, it could be my eyes bt does he have blue near his bum? If so I would say YF

Yes I agree with you. Or at least a Green masking Yellow Face2.

I guess Staceymay it sounds a lot more complicated than you probably thought? Welcome to the world of Budgie genetics...it's a mine field.

they both look like cobalts to me the mom looks like a sky blue but it could be the flash the babies look like the mom

if the dad was a yellowface the babies would be yellow faces too since it is a dominant gene so I am going more with a green normal and the darker blue comes from the babies getting 1 dark factor..

Missy these are my YF you can see they have varying levels of 'green' through their feathersDSC00414.jpgTheoretically true Elly but out of three babies from a nest with one yellow face parent I got ony one yellow face...

Yellow face is Dominant but still only a 50% chance of YF in the chicks if mated to a White Face Elly.

MB...don't you think your Yellow Faces might be Golden Faces? They looks such nice strong colours in the face & the body...my YF2 have more of a Cream face.

but what if it is double factor yellow face that yellow is very deep? (just putting it out there)

A few people have suggested they might be golden face Norm. I looked at a yellow face at a pet shop a few days ago and they were much brighter than him, he was more of a soft lemon yellow whereas they are the same yellow as my lutino.

Your probably right on DF Elly, but I think that's pretty rare. I have mated YF2 to YF2 & still got plenty of White Faces. Double factor YF1 produce some White Faces which are double factor, but you can't tell by just looks.

Yes I agree I'm no expert on Golden Faces, but I would think that's what they are, I have most of my better YF2 with Cream type faces, I have bred a few pet types with more the buttercup Yellow as you say [like Lutino] I'm going to try & improve them by breeding.
