February 14, 200520 yr I have an 18 month male, very tame, affectionate, talker, follows me around sits on shoulder etc. He was a biter when I first began training him and would attach himself to my neck or ear whenever it took his fancy, I put this down to youngster's curiousity, like a puppy bites, luckily he grew out of it but can still give me a nip on the lips or nose (it hurts) if he's in that mood. I can tell when it's coming most of the time. He will land on me, give me a sideways look and say "Hello", so when he talks when on my shoulder or head I know to beware!! I think it's an attention thing. Only thing I can suggest to you is saying "No" v. firmly when he does it, then dislodge him gently but firmly - this does seem to have some effect on my bird - and warn people not to put their face close to him.
February 15, 200520 yr okay try this, i tried the blowing n spray on scooby but didn't work with her biting, so i became a drill sargent, every time she trys to bite me we do the step up n step down routen, so she has now learnt if she doesn't bite me she gets left in peace. Claire xXx
