I have mentioned my budgie Sky before, he is a rescue that was found in an abandoned house with his buddy Pickle. His beak is obscene and keeps growing and growing and recently his nails have as well. It was decided NOT to put this pair up for adoption as Sky has obvious health issues and we don't know the age of these boys. I have been clipping Sky's beak for the last few months' but it appeared to be split with blood pooling so I took him back to the vet. We are starting on daily per beak liver medications to see if this will help him. Other than that, Sky and Pickle are the happiest little budgies, enjoy their greens and start singing before anybody else in the morning!

I don't know if it is painful for Sky but it sure is annoying!!! I would speculaste that most of his nutrition came from his buddy Pickle when he came in as I cannot envision him cracking too many seeds with this beak , I got him to the vet as soon as I could and thankfully he likes soft foods and fruits and veggies. :dbb1:

That's such a weird thing going on. At least he isn't a picky eater from the sounds of it.

Yes, even after a week and a few days of medications, the beak is coming back with a vengeance. I also notice that Sky has a very poor grip on my finger, perches and cage bars. But he still is one happy and singing budgie.

well at least Pickle can't lay eggs...I think Comet is more in love with the color then the actual sex of the bird
