Moulting?

I think my budgies could be moulting cuz its went from cold to hot so now they have started to get those pin feathers so would they be starting to moult?

It sure sounds like it Jodie. Most of my birds have just finished moulting, but some are later than others and just starting a moult. A good time to be sure they have the best of food to help them through as moulting takes a lot out of them. There is a product called moulting aid which helps. :hap:

Kaz, do you give your birds more fruits & veggies when molting ? Does this aid them in the molt process ? I heard letting them sleep earlier helps. ( if they are inside birds ) they say to cover their cage with a dark cloth earlier in the evening & let them sleep longer then usual. But my avian said not to give them lettuce or too many greens that can result in runny poops & make them weak.

What do you think ?

If I gave my guys any more vegies they would burst :D Those guys eat better than we do  I do use moulting aid for them though...it gives them more nutrients needed for new feather growth. As far as the fruit and vegies go, its a daily smorgasbord here for my birds. They get tons.......vegies...rarely fruit as mine wont eat fruit.

Hey Jody Great advice from Kaz ... As usual ! : )

If your bird is in inside one make sure it's kept warm and little interatction as this is a MOODY time

Birds when they moult they aren't themselves, they can be Less Talkative and More Bity ....

Plenty of Fresh Healthy Food and Rest - Moulting Aid is something that I am about to give mine as

they are going thru a molt too, it helps with them to get thru the molt a little quicker
