As the majority of my birds are currently feeding chicks, I am wanting to give them a big variety of foods. As they arent fussed on the commercial egg and biscuit mix I was wondering if anyone out there has a home made recipe?? Thanks in advance!!

This is the one I have from Bea, look under the receipes PINNED in the Food Section too .

 

When i make mine i get a hard boiled egg, bread crumbs, bird seed, and my birds favourite veggies.

 

You microwaves the egg shell for about 2 mins and smash that into a fine powder. You add that to mashed hard boiled egg. Sprinkle some bread crumbs over the top just enough to spread right through the mix. Add a tablespoon or two of the budgies seed mix and then mix some finely chopped veggies in as well and stir it all together.

Mmmm! Sounds good enough to eat myself! (Maybe not!) Will try it tomorrow, thanks Elly!

I might try this recipe too, thinking I'll crush the eggs shells first and then put the whole lot in the blender so it's nice and fine

Sorry Kaz, I was talking about the egg and biscuit like in the pet shops. My birds never touch it! Any other suggestions to give them while rearing chicks??

Jenene, Basically you want feed that it easy for the parents to digest and re feed bubs, There are great recipes on thelink Kaz gave you try the birdy Breed .... Or add to your vegies multigrai or brown bread that is at least 2 days old grate it or use the blender ...... ( this was advised by an avain vet)
