First Chick hatched Late yesterday afternoon ( after I had check the nestbox), as it looks a litter older

then a newborn... Had Air in crop and no feed I removed him/her and helped with the air and gave a good feed

he/she is now back in with mum and Dad ....I will be checking on it's progress again this afternoon .....

Thanks erin, I am looking ofr my camera (Laughing out loud)

No crop feeding as I do not have the needles ...

I use either a small bent spoon or a syringe with the needle removed ....

And place under the beak he/she opens and guzzles, I have a pot of got water next to me to rest feed in

'so it stays at an even temp .....

I have never had a problem with air in the crop, just incase it happens how do you deal with this?

Very exciting, I remember how difficult it was as a first time mum and I only had one to deal with!

Sit the baby in one hand. using you thumb and index finger of the other hand, slowly squeeze the crop. Start below or jus ton the bottom of the air bubble and work you way up. the little chick should open its mouth as the air is forced out. Be careful as you do not want to force the food back up.

Baby 2 died at 1 week old - Full crop No bleeding? So not sure what happened there ( no mites either )

The ast year I have been breedng I have never see a "Dad" lilke sowman ... He would sit on eggs ????? he is always in the nest with Mum and bubs if no he is out on guard - All bubs are full and alert eyes open most are coloured up apart the youngest ...

SO WHAT DID I GET ???????

I agree with Elly...Looks like now that Neat is back with us she intends to make it hard, first off we have to guess the parents mutation, then what colours she expects...none of the easy stuff...I'm glad she wasn't my school teacher  come to think of it, I think one of my schooll teachers was BLONDE...LOL...
